Ask and I Won’t Lie
Have you ever asked a question, late?
Where you were prompted to ask by the situation,
When the answer to you was subtly known,
Yet the delay triggered a different outcome?
Knowing the answer now,
You wish to have chosen a sooner perception,
Since that response was always what you waited for,
Except you were naive,
You doubted your hope and found your want to be strange,
Yet her answer was to never change.
With time the stakes grow old,
They get dragged down before you can withhold,
And If you can put yourself where during the question she was,
Your questions will never again take a pause.
An Evening With Odds
The odds played you,
As you weren’t selected,
You emphasize on rejection to justify,
That your sorrows and luck lucked out,
But then why do you not acknowledge,
The fact you were too selected by one?
Is there a reason why you choose your tears,
As the one you want to talk about,
The one that dried you in and out,
You keep going without conquering your fears?
It all comes down to control,
Being the one in charge when you can,
And not letting external forces,
Be the one for which you have inner care.
Belief is reflective,
As when you select yourself before the world,
It’s not about selfishness but self love,
That to each one is subjective.
As you now have overcome most of your fears,
Not all but quite a few,
From now with your past frozen tear drops of dew,
You will succeed at being the one who nears,
The power of negating,
The power of leading,
And the power of believing,
And with every breath of yours,
You shall find a new you,
Who has walked way past,
Those caught up in your fears.
Backing Slowing You
Your want of running back,
Does not give you control to rewind,
The mistakes that you would fix,
Is a part of you now.
Regret is the key to backing,
Thinking that outcomes can be different,
But have you thought for once when realization calmed you,
It was only after you gained and suffered.
So now this story that you are a part of,
Can be something that you change hereafter,
For which you’d give up some of your gained laughter.
The later you accept your current state,
It's not long until you face your fate,
And since this story so far has been written already,
It will remain regardless of today’s date.
Bet on Yet
Yet is a strong word,
As the distraction of hope,
When your mind has heard the reality,
But your heart is helped with hope.
You may not have found her yet,
You might never,
But this feeling of eventually,
The feeling of some day,
The belief of denying the possibility of never,
You wait for what is supposed to last forever.
So know that your time has come,
But heart’s longing has not ceased yet,
And while you are happy with the possibility of that yes,
Think twice before going all in on wait's bet.
The Bright Shadowed Light
My loneliness is casting a shadow,
Not so dark though,
As much as my eyes tell me,
Since the light of you is still stuck back home.
But the flowers still blossom,
They also do wilt and die,
But how did this love escape,
Before us together rose from the bottom?
The birds are chirping,
But can you tell when they cry?
You try to erase memories until you forget,
Once you forget your heart knows your mind lies.
The light is there still,
You have to let it fill you,
But how will you contain love’s brightness,
When the voided heart happens to be in you?
Pacing the Aging
Feels like I have seen a lot,
Yet I feel there’s so much more.
I want to express my wisdom by smiling,
The lips express but the eyes know the truth.
As I grow a year older,
Feels like the decades have added up,
And if I was to think of now,
I only wonder how time ‘flies’ has changed into flown.
For the first time as I sit in my room on my birthday,
Playing cheerful music and reminiscing the old times,
My strength to show I am good the way I am now,
The 25 year old me can see through me.
So here’s an ode to myself,
Go wherever you desire,
Keep the moving world aside,
You can’t control it all,
You are not meant to control it all,
But build a world of your own,
With people you love and hate,
But eventually remember it's not always fate,
You started from miles ago,
There are people with whom you will grow,
Instead of running blind now, can you start taking it slow?
